Live and Work in Historic Longwood, Florida: The Bartlett

Live and Work in Historic Longwood, Florida

This is one of a series of three brochures advertising soon to be constructed homes on Bay Street in Longwood, Florida. Renderings.com provided individual perspectives of the houses but no street view. I created the street view of four houses in Photoshop. Since one of the models (the Bartlett) was shown from a different angle, I heavily modified it in Photoshop by adding the left side of the building and by breaking the building down into a series of layers, mirroring and distorting each portion of a wall so that the perspective and shadows somewhat matched that of the other houses. I used portions of the Google Street View of the actual site to create the background, and I painted the driveways in Photoshop.

I designed the logo, created the location map, did the layout, and wrote the copy for the brochure advertising a luxury condominium development marketed by Stirling Sotheby's International Realty.

<em>Spread the World</em> musical poster

Poster

Poster for an original musical by Bryan Best for Pine Castle United Methodist Church

I layered and colored portions of engravings and a map from the 19th Century (and in public domain) and painted the "burned" edges and light rays. The font "Lithos" seemed to have a "New Testament" feel, and I kept colors muted. The artwork was used in posters, the program cover, and tickets, all printed in-house.

Under the Sea logo, wall and door graphics

Logo, Wall and Door Graphics

at the request of the Children's Ministry Director, I modeled the yellow fish after a fish in a border already in use in the Preschool Ministry and octopus after a picture in a magazine. The remaining sea creatures, coral, waves, bubbles, and portholes were painted by me in Adobe Photoshop. I chose two fonts -- Gloo Gun and Ariel Rounded -- with a juvenile appearance. The "K.I.D.S. Zone" logo on the nametag was modified from an existing logo. Artwork was used in exterior and interior wall and door graphics, certificates, name tags, T-shirts, and brochures.

Adventure Bay Logo Redesign

Logo Redesign

Pine Castle United Methodist Church purchased the Adventure Bay curriculum and the right to use the artwork.
At the request of the Children's Ministry pastor, I redrew the logo to make the artwork look "more cartoonish". The parrot in the logo needed to match a puppet that was used during Children's Church. I also redrew and repainted everything else.
The logo was used for signage, T-shirts, certificates, and more. The certificate, labels and nametags shown use a "parchment" background that I painted in Adobe Photoshop.

Pioneer Days poster

Pioneer Days Poster

For this poster, I scanned a yo-yo quilt made by my mother and her aunt. Photoshop filters make the painted "stitches" look like actual thread and the background and heading letters look like burlap. The "wood" frame was painted in Photoshop using a noise filter, a motion blur, and the dodge and burn tools. I'm not sure who created the "Pioneer Days" logo or took the picture of the log cabin.

Pioneer Days poster, ad, magazine

Poster, Ads, Magazine Cover

This "quilt" illustration was used in an ad, a poster, and the cover for Pioneer Days magazine. I applied a canvas filter to clip art "people" and then created a separate layer for the outline to which I applied the "emboss" filter. The gazebo, clouds, and foliage were drawn in Photoshop. To create the puffy "quilting", I flattened the image and duplicated the layer, and erased the shape of the diagonal "thread" lines, and applied the emboss filter.

<em>Amazing Grace</em> musical poster

Poster

This is the poster for an original musical by Bob Rictor of Pine Castle United Methodist Church. Although the story took place in the 18th Century, it made references to the 40 pieces of silver Judas received in exchange for betraying Jesus.

I used two photos found on the web -- a shackle (© Rémi Jouan, CC-BY-SA, GNU Free Documentation License, Wikimedia Commons) and a photo of a Roman coin -- to create the illustration. The font "Blackadder" seemed to have an 18th Century look. The artwork was used in posters, bulletin ads, fliers, and the program cover, all printed in house.

Global Impact Celebration

Conference Collateral

Collateral for 2008 Global Impact Celebration, including letterhead, commitment card, name tag, bulletin cover and Daily Prayer Guide for the World. The lighthouse photo was part of a stock photography service to which the church subscribed. The relief map was one of many non-copyrighted maps available on the web, but I do not remember the source (possibly The CIA World Factbook or NASA.) All materials were printed and assembled in house.

Poster and Logo

I purchased the photo "Crowd at Air Show" from iStockPhoto.com (09-01-07 © Oleg Prikhodko). Repeated layers of the people and painted "grass", multiple transparent gray layers and a stock photo of clouds create the illusion of a large crowd facing an impending thunderstorm.

I designed the logo to combine rain cloud and crown motifs. Artwork was used in posters, bulletins, brochures, and DVD covers.
